Welcome to the first Real Talk episode of 2026!
To kick things off, Scot Morris, OD, and Rehan Ahmed, MD, discuss the launch of ChatGPT Health. The latest launch from OpenAI allows users to connect their medical data, such as labs, medications and visit summaries, and also connects with wearables like the Apple Watch or glucometers.
From there, the pair discusses synthetic data, which is defined as “fake data” that is “mathematically real” and is manufactured by an algorithm to mimic the patterns of real data. It is essentially a digital twin of real data. Synthetic data allows for the training of AI models without putting anyone in danger.
To close things out, Dr. Morris and Dr. Ahmed share their AI predictions for 2026. They discuss oculomics becoming mainstream, tele-diagnostics and remote diagnostics going outside of eye care offices, the development of smart contact lenses and more.
