The hosts explain that a digital twin is not a static 3D model, but a living, breathing virtual map or machine that stays perfectly in sync with its physical counterpart. Equipped with sensors that act like human senses, the physical object constantly sends real-time data to its digital twin, allowing for predictive modeling and scenario testing.
The potential in eye care is enormous: surgeons could create digital twins of patients’ eyes to practice complex procedures. This allows for sophisticated planning and real-time feedback on how intervention would affect a patient’s specific anatomy.
From there, Dr. Morris and Dr. Ahmed dive into retail AI and its massive impact on the eye care industry, which relies heavily on retail sales of contacts, glasses and drugs. They discuss “outbound retail AI” and “inbound retail AI,” all with the goal to create a “frictionless” process, which consumers are quickly beginning to expect and accept nothing less than.
